Relies on an individual officer's memory and manual cross-referencing across disconnected station registers — reports filed at different stations rarely get compared against each other at all.
AI-assisted match scoring fuses a face descriptor, free-text description, and location/time across every report in the system into one confidence score — then a human reviewer confirms before anyone is contacted.
Follow-up & alerts
No proactive follow-up. Families must call or visit repeatedly to ask whether there's any update.
Automatic SMS / WhatsApp / email alerts go out the moment a match is found or confirmed — no need to keep asking.
Public visibility of unidentified cases
Closed, station-only paper records. The public generally has no way to browse unidentified found-persons cases or contribute a tip.

Requires a phone call or an in-person visit, usually only during office hours.

Tamper-evidence of the record itself
A paper case file (or an unaudited database row) can be edited or a page quietly removed, with no built-in way for anyone outside the department to ever notice.
Every action is
chained by SHA-256 hash and cryptographically signed with a key that lives outside the database. Anyone can
publicly verify a case was never silently altered.

Automatic Priority Flagging
Reports involving a minor (under 18) or an elderly person (over 60) are automatically flagged as priority the moment they're submitted, so they surface for urgent review without anyone having to remember to escalate them.

Every citizen-facing page works in both English and Hindi with a single tap of the language toggle — no separate form, no separate process, no one left out because of a language barrier.
An honest note
Nagrik Sahayak is a citizen-technology layer built to assist reporting and search — it is not a replacement for filing an official police report (FIR), and it does not connect to any real government or law-enforcement database. Every AI-suggested match is reviewed and confirmed by a human before any family is contacted. Please always file an official report with your nearest police station as well.
